For us, those words aren’t just a tagline—they’re a way of life that is at the heart of what Barrie Olive Oil is all about.

Let’s break it down.

We all love to eat delicious food. Mouth-watering, tongue-tingling, great tasting food. Think of your absolute favourite food for a moment…how it smells, how it feels in your mouth, how it tastes…how it makes you feel. Why do you enjoy it so much? You’re likely to say, “It’s delicious!” We have a sensual relationship with food, in that it awakens, and hopefully in most cases, excites and appeals to our senses.

While we eat to survive, our experience with food is much more elevated than that basic need. We eat for pleasure, we eat for comfort, and we eat for social experience and a sense of community.

Simply put, we love eating, and we love eating delicious food.

That being said, we’ve all had food hangovers and most of us are guilty of overindulging (although I’m likely to say with a smile, ‘guilty as charged, and I enjoyed every minute of it!’).

We know we want to eat healthy foods, foods that are good for our bodies as well as our souls. We think about our heart health and sugar intake. We want foods that fight for us, that can play a role in preventing cancer, Alzheimer’s, and other degenerative diseases.

We’re on the hunt for healthier choices, but still want to enjoy delicious food. So where do we find a healthy balance?

One tablespoon—about as much as you would use on a salad—contains 10 calories and three grams of sugar.

Now, we’ve satisfied the delicious and healthy parts. But despite our best efforts to prepare and eat delicious and nutritious foods, we’re busy! Our good intentions can easily go off the rails when our ‘ideal’ meals are difficult, time-consuming or complicated to prepare.

Barrie Olive Oil has you covered. Our products are so easy to use, in so many different ways, that dinner can be ready faster than you can have a pizza delivered! A gorgeous, delicious salad – how about a variation on our staff favourite – arugula or spinach, topped with blueberries or grape tomatoes, sliced onions, walnuts or sliced almonds, and a crumble of feta or goat cheese. A drizzle of Green Chili Olive Oil, another of Traditional Balsamic and you’re ready to dig in.

Or as recommended by a customer, drizzle Persian Lime Olive Oil on cooked brown basmati rice for a perfectly delicious, healthy grain.

Finish your grilled meats or fish with a brushing of your favourite oil and balsamic, or plan ahead and marinate some chicken breasts in yummy Italian Fig Balsamic and Tuscan Herb Olive Oil—a tablespoon of each per breast, in a Ziploc bag—and you’ll have moist, mouth-watering chicken ready to cook when you are.
